Nepál tíz évig tartó belső konfliktusa után 1300, állami erők vagy maoisták által eltüntetett személy esetét tartják nyilván. Senkit nem vontak felelősségre ezekért a súlyos emberi jogi jogsértésekért a mai napig.
A Nemzeti Emberi Jogi Bizottság 2010. szeptemberben exhumálta az öt férfi feltételezett holttestét, ami lehetőség volt a rendőrség részére, hogy nyomozásukat befejezzék, és hogy az ügyészség vádat emelhessen.
Ez a rövidfilm bemutatja a politikai ellenállást a bűncselekményt elkövetők felelősségre vonását illetően, amely mindkét harcoló felet jellemezte. A film során megszólal az egyik eltűnt testvére, egy, az eseten dolgozó ügyvéd, valamint a maoista belügyminiszter.

Today is the International Day of the Disappeared
In October 2003 five young men from Janakpur, Nepal, were taken by members of the army and police. They never returned. Despite years of campaigning by their families, lawyers and human rights defenders the fate of the men has never been officially established.
Nepal’s ten year internal conflict resulted in over 1,300 unresolved cases of disappearances by state forces and the Maoists. To date not one person has been prosecuted for these grave human rights abuses.
An exhumation of the suspected remains of the five men by the National Human Rights Commission in September 2010 has provided an opportunity to push the police to complete their investigation and prosecutions to begin.
This short film illustrates the political opposition, from both sides of the conflict, to holding individuals responsible for such crimes to account. It includes interviews with the brother of one of the disappeared, the lawyer working on the case, and the Maoist Home Minister.
The video supports an action targeting the Prime Minister of Nepal and Inspector General of Police.
